Liliana was happy to celebrate her Daddy and give him the hand painted frame that she made him (and told him about over and over leading up to Father's Day because she cannot keep a surprise). She also gave him the biscuits, blackberry jam, and home made butter that she made for him at school. She ate almost all of the treat herself, but was so excited to sit down with him and tell him all about how she shook the butter and picked the berries for the jam.
Liliana loves playing with her Daddy. He gets way more silly with her than I do and plays her involved make believe games with much more enthusiasm and attention than I ever could. If she wants something...she knows to ask her Dad and often uses this to her advantage. She looks forward to their near-weekly breakfast dates together at the "fishy restaurant" (aka Crispins--the local greasy spoon) and loves how Daddy never sits down at the park to observe her playing like Mom does--he is always running with her, climbing the "towers" and pretending to be whatever character she demands of him. Almost every day when he gets home from work the two of them head into the backyard to tend to the garden and eat the tomatoes or strawberries that have popped up in her little planter box. She loves her Daddy so much and told him so many times on Father's Day.
Watching Adam with Liliana reminds me a lot of the way my Dad was with me. He was the parent who would play with us after dinner for hours before bedtime and follow every command I had about the way the make-believe game was supposed to be played. He was definitely the fun, silly parent just like Adam is for Lila. The bond that Dads have with their little girls is so special and I am glad I chose a Dad for my baby that is as amazing as my Dad is to me.
