Three Weeks Old!

Liliana is three weeks old.Time flies when you are having fun! In some ways it feels like time is going by very quickly and it is hard to believe that she is already three weeks old. On the other hand, it feels like Liliana has been with us forever...it is hard to remember life without Liliana and it seems like she has always been a part of our family.
She is becoming more alert everyday. I am feeling great and able to drive again, so we are getting out together more and more. We are still battling the reflux and Lila is spitting up a lot, but everything else is going great. Adam and I can't get enough of her. I think she must get sick of being covered with kisses.

We love visitors!

Liliana loves having people visit! Here are some pictures of just a few of our friends and family that have come to spend time with us lately. Thanks so much to everyone for coming over!

Look at Lila's BIG smile for Aunty Margo and Uncle Athon! She can't wait to meet her Cousin Cooper!

More Sleeping Pictures

I know I have already posted a lot of pictures of Liliana sleeping, but that is how she spends a majority of her day, and she looks so darn cute when she's asleep. I just can't help taking pictures.

This picture is really funny because both my mom and I sleep exactly like this in the morning:

Adam says Liliana reminds him a lot of me when she's is sleeping because she just sprawls out and gets comfortable, and doesn't let anybody get in her way:

Adam took this picture before he left for work in the morning when we were still sleeping together. I LOVE sleeping with her!

2 Week Pediatric Appointment

Liliana had her 2 week pediatric appointment yesterday and we learned that she now weighs 8 lbs. 12 oz. and is 21 inches long. She has gained 14 ounces and grown 2 inches since birth!! WOW!We are so happy that she is thriving, but a little sad that she is growing so fast already. I notice her growth the most when I am nursing. She used to fit across my body and now her little legs hang past my stomach.
Everything is still going great at our house. We are so in love with her and still can't believe we made her and that she is our daughter. The only challenge we have been having is that Liliana has been experiencing gastreo-reflux which is making her spit up after she eats. It doesn't upset her to the point of crying (she RARELY cries), but it bothers her and she makes a lot of noise and looks very uncomfortable as she tries to keep the milk down. It breaks my heart. I think it bothers me more than it bothers her.
I couldn't post without including some pictures or I would upset the grandparents, so here are some photos of Lila today. We both took a bath, but put our jammies on afterwards and had a relaxing day filled with naps because we didn't get much sleep last night due to Lila's gastreo-reflux. Hopefully she will still sleep well tonight!

Maternity Photo Shoot Pics... better late than never

These are a little overdue, but I wanted to save them on the blog, so here they are. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant. It is crazy how little my belly looks in these.

Sleeping Beauty

Playtime

Liliana is becoming more alert everyday. I'm not too sure she is quite ready for this toy, but she seemed to have a good time looking at the animals.

Walks on the Beach

While I am feeling SOOOO much better, I still can't drive a car, so Liliana and I go on a lot of walks downtown and to the beach. It is so nice that we live so close to everything in Encinitas.

Last night we all went on a walk to the beach at sunset. We are having so much fun being a family of 3.

First Bath

Liliana has had sponge baths, but this morning she had her first REAL bath. She loved laying in her chair and having her daddy splash her with warm water. She did not love having her mom scrub her buns and wash her hair.
After her bath we lay her on some towels in front of a warm fire to let her be naked for a while and let her buns "air out" after being trapped in diapers so much. She loved it.

Check out her "Rana" legs!

Liliana is 1 week old!

Liliana just celebrated her 1st week of life!! The past week has been filled with so many changes in our home. Here are some of the highlights on what has been going on around the Morrison household...

My mom has been staying with us and SPOILING all of us with delicious food, help with more laundry than I ever thought a little person could generate, and lots of love. Adam asked her to move in until Lila turns 5 years old, but she has to return to the Bay Area on Thursday. We will miss her so much and look forward to her next visit in a month.

Liliana is a champion eater and gaining a lot of weight. At her first pediatric appointment on January 8th she had lost a little weight since birth and went from 7 lbs. 14 oz. to 7lbs. 8 oz. We went back 4 days later on January 12th because Liliana was making so many funny sounds and squeaks that I thought she had mucus in her chest--which she didn't. At that appointment she weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. She gained 10 ounces in 4 days!!

The weight is starting to show in her cute little cheeks that are starting to get chubbier. Here are her little chops while she is in her swing that she loves.

All of this eating has also produced a LOT of dirty diapers. Here is Liliana's "poo face." She does it every time she poops. We think it is hilarious.

Liliana may look like her Daddy, but she has her mom's glare and feisty temper. She doesn't ever fuss or cry, but if we mess with her by putting on her socks when she doesn't want them, or changing her diaper when she isn't ready, she will glare at us and yell. She definitely lets us know what she likes and does not like!

Here is her little glare

She has been sleeping pretty well at night. I realize it is the very beginning and there will be sleep challenges ahead of us, but so far we are all getting enough sleep around here. (Grandma has been helping too.) The first few days home from the hospital I had Lila sleeping on my chest in bed because I could not get out of bed on my own to feed her. This sleeping position was the only way I could easily feed and burp her and soothe her back to sleep. We started to get too hot sleeping like this so I started using the Snuggle Nest co-sleeper in the center of our bed. She is doing great in the Snuggle Nest and I can hear her grunting and starting to root when she needs to eat every 3 or 4 hours, so I can nurse before she has to wake Adam up with crying. We have also been putting her in her crib for one of her sleep cycles to try to get her used to it. She only lasts an hour or two in there though.

Liliana has also started to smile. She loves massages and just melts onto you and gives a lot of smiles when you rub her back or face. She has even started giving some open mouth smiles! (I know that some people say they only 'smile' when they have gas until they are older, but I disagree and think babies do smile.) She is making a lot of cute sounds and purrs and coos when she is happy.

Her umbilical cord fell off! I am so glad--I hated that little thing. It was hanging by a thread and I couldn't pull it off myself, but the pediatrician plucked it off quickly. We have been giving her sponge baths everyday with just warm water (which she does NOT like) and now that her belly button is almost healed, we can give her a REAL bath soon! I hope she likes that more than having her diaper changed and getting sponge baths.

She is starting to track and follow voices and puts her hand up towards you when you talk to her. I love watching her negotiate her world and respond to Adam, my mom and I.

Liliana loves her hands. She is very expressive with her long, dainty fingers. She touches them to her face and crosses them in front of her in such a feminine, gentle way. She also goes for them aggressively when she is hungry and sucks her thumb really hard when she doesn't get the boob fast enough.

We have had a lot of visitors. Here are just a couple of the visitors we have had.

Lila and her cousin Cannon who is exactly 6 weeks older than her

Four Generations: Great Grandma Cora, Grandma Rose, Mommy Tracy, and Baby Liliana

The 1st week has been amazing. We love her more everyday. We can't wait to see what the next week has in store!
