YUMMY!

Liliana started solids (if you can call it that)! We fed her in Florida so that she and Paxton could have their first meal together. Pax attacked his food, but Lila wasn't quite as sure about it.

Islamorada

We spent a week with The Walters in Florida and had THE BEST time!

Paxton and Liliana were very aware of each other and "played" together well. It was so special to watch our babies interact.

Liliana went swimming for the first time!

The trip was filled with the perfect amount of relaxation and fun!

We rented a boat for two days while we were there. It was a blast and the kids did great. They didn't exactly love wearing the life jackets, but once the boat started moving they passed out every time.

The water was gorgeous and it made for great swimming and snorkeling.

After snorkeling both days we headed to the sand bar for sun and cocktails! It worked out great because the kids could enjoy the water too.

We had an AWESOME thunder and lightening storm one night
and got "stuck" in a bar. (Somehow we made the best of it.) At the end of the storm there was a beautiful sunset and rainbow.

The best part of the trip for Adam was being able to spend a whole uninterrupted week with his Baby Girl. He can't wait for the next vacation...and neither can we!

Happy Little Traveler

We flew to Ft. Lauderdale to vacation in the Florida Keys last week. In the past, Liliana has done a great job traveling on her short trips to and from Northern California, but we were worried that longer flights with a layover would be more challenging. It turns out that we had nothing to worry about. She did great! Here's a clip from the last leg of our flight home. She didn't haver her own seat for the entire day and she refused to sleep on this flight, but at least she was happy!

Pictures of our amazing vacation to come...I am experiencing technical difficulties at the moment.

Blocks

We got some new toys today!! The Baby Einstein blocks are a hit!

"No Booze in Bars!"

My Dad has told me many stories over the years of our "bar adventures" together when I was just a baby. He loved taking me out with him and his friends. He says that he would clip my sassy-seat to the edge of the bar and that I loved being part of the action. Whenever he and I were headed out together my Mom would tell us, "no booze in bars." Because I heard that phrase so often, it became one of my first complete sentences.
Well, I might need to start teaching that phrase to Liliana. It has become a tradition for Adam and Liliana to walk to the local bars together. He straps her in the Bjorn and off they go! Their favorites are D- Street and Beachside. Liliana has a blast because she loves watching all of the televisions and the people and Adam loves it because he can show off his daughter and enjoy a beer.
The two of them are becoming famous around town. I have been approached multiple times by people saying that they have seen Liliana and her Daddy cruising with their shades on. Adam says that people have stopped him a few times to take their picture. I can see why--they are a pretty cute pair.

The bar-hoppers:
Uh-Oh! She loves teething on beer bottles (don't worry--no real sips). No booze in bars Liliana!! Fitting that the shirt she is wearing here says, "I drink until I pass out"...that was not planned.

First Weekend Away

To celebrate my 29th birthday, Adam took me to Las Vegas for the weekend. It was my first weekend away from Liliana. I was worried that I would be a mess because the last time (and only time) that I left her overnight I cried because I missed her so much. It was hard to leave her this time, and a few tears were shed when saying goodbye, but I had so much fun in Vegas with everyone that I made it through the weekend without losing it. And, she did not cry at all for me. My mom and dad watched her and said that she was a perfect angel. They said that she was happy, sweet, cuddly, and slept great! I had a blast dancing, laughing, and laying by the pool when I was in Vegas, but I was very happy to get home to my sweet baby girl and cover her with kisses.

It just keeps getting better...

The cliche, "they grow so fast," is true. The months are flying by and she is getting bigger every day. It is already hard to remember what the newborn days were like. While it is a little scary and a little sad that so many stages are ending, the new stages are so much fun that I welcome them without dwelling too much on what has past. Liliana is more amazing every day. Her belly laughs (I have been trying to get this on video for over a month, but she stops when she sees the camera), the way she responds to her name, the knowing look she gives when you tell her something, the way she interacts and plays games with us... she is just a blast. Adam and I talk to each other every day about how special it is to be her parents.

Our little possum is starting to like being outside. She loves going to the park and laying under the trees, watching the kids play, and swinging like a big girl.

She is showing a lot of interest in food and drinks. I am trying to hold out on the food until she turns six months, but I recently gave her water and she loves it. She brings it to her mouth and I have to pry it out of her hands to get her to stop.

5 Month Check Up

Liliana had her 5 month check up last week and Dr. Sears confirmed what we already knew--she is growing like a weed and very healthy. She now weighs 17 pounds (75th percentile) and is 26 inches long (90th percentile). Liliana is definitely a Morrison--her head is HUGE. The nurse measured it and told us it was off of the charts. When the doctor came in later and looked at her notes on Liliana's head size, he left the room to get the tape-measurer again because he didn't believe it. Once he measured it for himself to confirm its huge size, he shrugged and reassured us by saying that at least it looked proportionate with her large body. We aren't too worried. It runs in the family!

Daddy even makes the Doctor's office fun!

Who says you can't go out when you have kids?

We drag Liliana to restaurants that are not exactly "kid-friendly" at least once a week. We don't have many babysitting options available to us in Encinitas and we like spending time with Liliana, so wherever we go, she goes! This past weekend we found a great spot that is fun for adults and kids. Stone Brewing Company in Escondido has good food, great beer (and wine and cocktails) and the coolest location. The outside area has fire-pits, streams, fish, waterfalls, and grassy areas where people can eat picnic-style on blankets. There were lots of families--parents catching a buzz and kids having a great time!

Spitting Cobra

She does this A LOT!
