Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Liliana went to her first baseball game last weekend at Petco Park. It was a beautiful day and she sat happily in our lap the entire time and fell fast asleep towards the end of the game in Adam's lap. He was in heaven...baseball, beer, and his Baby Girl.

Liliana's great-grandma and grandpa Olguin bought her this special dress and bracelet to match. We dressed her up and took her to Casa de Bandini for Margaritas and Mexican food. She was a hit!

My mom has been telling us that Liliana looks like a Kewpie Doll since she was a couple months old. Do you see the resemblance? They definitely both have the same knees (or lack thereof)! :)

Off to the Races!

Liliana got all dressed up and went to the Turf Club for her first pony races at the Del Mar racetrack. She didn't pay any attention to the horses, but she loved the attention from all of our friends. Adam (who doesn't usually have good betting luck) actually won a little bit of money thanks his his lady luck, Lila Rose. 

Family Picnics

Family picnics on the beach are so much fun! 

7 months?!?!?

Where has the time gone? Our little baby is getting so big. Here are some highlights of what she has been doing lately:

-She has been sleeping through the night and only takes 2 naps a day now.

-I'm sure you aren't surprised to hear that she LOVES to eat. She is now chowing down on yams, bananas, avocado, green beans, zucchini, butternut squash, peas, and asparagus. I thought that asparagus was going to be too strong of a flavor for her, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that she likes it! I am making all of her food and can't say enough great things about the Beaba and Baby Cubes to help me prepare and store her meals. 

-She is starting to get very frustrated by the fact that she cannot crawl. She can pull up onto her knees and can move across the entire living room by rolling and scooting (mostly backwards), but she still can't crawl. She watches her buddy Layla with envy as Layla effortlessly gets to the toy that she wants and pops it into her mouth. That day can't come soon enough for Liliana, but I'm not sure I am in a rush to have two munchkins on the move. :) 

-She continues to be such a content, "easy" baby. She is full of smiles and just loves to be wherever we are. 

-She loves music--especially when I am singing to her. We have a special song for everything and she lights up when I sing them.

-She is officially "Daddy's Girl," (as if it weren't official already). As soon as she hears his footsteps in the evening on the front porch her little head whips towards the door in anticipation of seeing her Daddy's face. She gets SOOO excited to see him. Her chubby little arms flap and her smile is HUGE! Once he gets home, she pretty much wants nothing to do with Mom. But, I wouldn't have it any other way. 

Adam's Birthday in Big Bear

My Uncle Steve and Aunty Barbara graciously hosted all of us at their cabin in Big Bear. We had a great time hanging out in their awesome game room, playing with the kids (Gianna and Hudson are SO big and cute), checking out an old car show, and shopping at Paisley (our favorite Big Bear clothing store). Adam and I also got out for a date-night of steak dinner complete with martinis and wine to celebrate his 29th. It was a wonderful weekend.

"You're Gonna Miss This"

I am not a huge country music fan, but Adam occasionally has it on the radio. When I was pregnant I heard the Trace Adkin's song,"You're Gonna Miss This," and it has accidentally become one of the most 'played' songs on the soundtrack of Liliana's life in my head. 

When she was a newborn and was waking to feed every 2-3 hours I would sing it to myself and smile as I nursed her back to sleep. When she was a few months old and went through the phase of teaching herself how to fall asleep and be on a schedule, I would sing it to myself as I rocked my sweet, crying baby to sleep. When she had difficult days where she was fussy and didn't want to be put down, I sung it to myself and knew that there would come a day when she wouldn't need me as much...and I'm sure it will come sooner than I want it to. I know that there will be many moments in her life where this song will be appropriate. I cherish every second with her and I don't take anything for granted. 

We have been letting Liliana "fuss" for 15-30 minutes a night so that she can learn to sleep through the night without me having to get up to nurse her. She has been doing WONDERFUL for the past couple of weeks and I haven't had to get out of bed to feed her. Last night she woke up and could not settle herself back down to sleep (she didn't take either of her naps during the day because I was dragging her around with me, which probably had something to do with it). I went in to feed her, sang the song, and cried as I nursed and rocked her in our special chair. She was holding on to me so tight and we were looking into each others' eyes the entire time. I rubbed her head and when she was done nursing, we sat together looking at each other for a while. I knew that it was probably one of the last times that I would get up and nurse her in the middle of the night and I hummed the song to her as I rocked her. I didn't want to put her back in her crib. 

I know that most moms look forward to the time that their babies sleep through the night--and I am excited for that stage too--but I also realize that I will miss this, and I will want this back...

Happy Monday with "The Beans"

What a great way to start the week! These two are too much. They are too young to "play" together or interact, but they are definitely aware of each other...or, at least, aware of what the other one has! They grab toys out of the others' hands and if I am holding one of them, the other gets jealous. It is amazing how early they learn these things. 

Back to the Bay

My little jet-setter and I went to San Francisco for another wonderful weekend. I always get excited to go up there and be with my family and friends. It makes me so happy to watch all of my loved ones spend time with Liliana. Between Uncle Colin, Brittany, Grandma, and Grandpa, her feet barely touched the ground!
