Another Pretty Evening at the Beach
We jogged to Cardiff and shared a bottle of wine and a cheese plate on the patio at Wine Steals. The sky was so beautiful on the way home. I love my life.

Another Great Trip to the Bay!
Liliana and I flew to the Bay Area to stay with my family again. She did AWESOME on both flights! Not a single tear. We had so much fun visiting friends and family.
Grandma bought Liliana a lot of toys. She had so much fun playing with them--especially this doll that is shown in the picture. It is her new favorite toy!

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend
Liliana got her ears pierced! My mom found a place in San Francisco that specializes in piercing baby's ears. The woman has been piercing babies for 30+ years. She was very nice and spent a lot of time making sure the markings on Liliana's ears were even before piercing them. It didn't seem to hurt her too much. She was crying before she was pierced because I had to hold her head and hands. She didn't cry any harder when the piercing went in the first ear, but she screamed pretty loud on the second ear. Fortunately, she only cried for a few minutes and it hasn't seemed to bother her a bit since then.
Look at how tense I am! I was definitely more scared than Liliana:
Here she is moments after having it done. Her tears already dried! (On a side note--look at the chub on her cheeks/chin/neck. I LOVE it!)
Liliana's cheeks are so chubby that you can't see her earrings if she if facing you. Here are a few recent shots from the weekend where you can (kind of) see her earrings.

Mother's Day
Today is my first Mother's Day! For as long as I can remember, all I have ever wanted to be is a Mommy and I have spent my whole life practicing. When I was very little I would spend my time diapering and swaddling my baby dolls. When I was two-and-a-half I got bored of pretend babies and asked my Mom and Dad for a real baby. They did what they had always planned on, but had been putting off for a while, and had my brother Colin. I took care of him from the day that they brought him home from the hospital. He called me his "other Mommy." The rest of my life was filled with a slew of babysitting and nanny jobs, and teaching little cuties that I referred to as "my kids." And now, I FINALLY have my very own baby, making every day a special "Mother's Day" for me. On this day dedicated to celebrating Mom's I am filled with gratitude.
I am grateful for Liliana. I am lucky enough to be able to stay home with her for a while and focus all of my attention on her. Being Liliana's Mom is the BEST job in the world. In my opinion, being a Mom is a joyful piece of cake! A couple of weeks ago when my parents were in San Diego I was laying out on the deck with a beer and I commented that I was so relaxed that it felt like I was on vacation. As soon as I said it I started to laugh out loud because, honestly, almost every day since I left work to be a Mom has been like a vacation. I am grateful to Adam for working hard to make this possible and I thank him for this opportunity every chance I get.
I am VERY grateful for my own Mom. I am grateful for everything that she has done for me and continues to do for me. I have always been close to my Mom and appreciative of how amazing she is, but being a Mom myself has made it even clearer. And now, I am especially grateful for everything that she does for Liliana. She is a wonderful Grandma.
On this Mother's Day, and every other day really, I am so grateful that I am a Mom.

A New 'Do
Liliana has been sporting a mean mullet for the past month or so. Her baby hair was thicker and darker and has fallen out and been replaced with new hair all over her head--except for in the back. The result was a little goofy looking, so with encouragement from Grandma Rose and Grammy Kris, we decided to give her a buzz. It looks a lot better! Tomorrow we are headed to the Bay Area where Liliana will have her ears pierced. Nothin' like a new 'do and some jewels to make a lady feel special!
