"yorry bou dat": Liliana heard Adam say "sorry about that" when he bumped into a woman at the airport last week and now she has been saying it. The nasally, serious way that she says it is with her face all crinkled up is hilarious, but we aren't laughing because her behavior that leads up to it isn't very funny. Lila can be a real stinker when she's in a mood. Generally speaking, she is a happy, friendly, social little girl, but she has been yelling at people and hitting on occasion lately. When she has bad behavior she has to sit on time out for a minute(which she is being really good about) and then she needs to apologize. She cries through her time-out because she feels bad, and then she tells the person "yorry bout dat." She has started to apologize on her own for doing things like telling her Dad, "no" when he goes in for a kiss. After she acts mean she catches herself and says, "yorry Daddy."

Potty Time: Liliana is potty trained!!! We are so proud of her! She has had a potty chair since before she was 1 and she started telling me when she had to go poo-poo. She has gone in the potty a handful of times since we purchased it, but she would also go through phases where she was scared to go on it. We always talked about it and tried every once in a while but I never forced it. Then a week or so ago she started telling me that she had to go pee-pee. I would rush her to the bathroom and take her diaper off, but nothing would happen. Then, last Sunday she went! I put her training panties (slightly padded cotton underwear) on her that day and decided that there was no time like the present. We stayed home most of last week to practice and she did great! Since then we have gotten brave enough to leave the house with no diaper and she has been doing amazing. We have eaten at restaurants, gone to friend's houses, gone to the park, and gone to Fiesta Street Fair in San Clemente, and she has gone in the potty! The Potette (which doubles as a stand alone portable potty and a toilet seat cover potty) is making all of this a lot easier! We have put away the potty present bribes and the diapers (except for naps) and we are moving forward! She still has an accident every once in a while, but never more than one a day and it has been less than a week.

"Look at my potty! (And my ruby red Dorothy slippers that Grandpa got me)": "I did it!":

Food: Liliana continues to be the best little eater in town. She is so much fun to take out to restaurants because she loves people watching and she loves food! Sushi is one of her favorites and she can really put it away! She easily polishes off 10 pieces of salmon and yellow tail nigiri. The funniest thing about taking her to a restaurant is how she tries to order herself and thanks the wait staff afterwards. She yells at the server, "Man (or Lady), sushi! Wa-wa! Nums!" and when he brings it she yells, "Day doo Man!" She has started to use a fork, but if she is really hungry she just holds the fork with one hand and shovels food in her mouth with the other. She is such a messy eater.

Funny Girl: Liliana says things all the time now that make us crack up and leave me wondering, "where did she get that?" The other day I was putting her down for a nap and she rubbed my back and looked up at me and whispered, "you like that Mommy?" I giggled. She still says, "oh my God" despite my efforts to change it to "gosh" and she says it all the time. It's hilarious. She uses it when she is surprised, excited, and exasperated. "Oh my God!" she will yell out when she opens a potty present or her sushi plate arrives at the table. "Oh my God" she will mutter under her breath when it is time to leave the park. She also says things sarcastically to mock us which is pretty funny. Yesterday she picked up her sand toy, held it to her eye to pretend to take a picture and said, "'mile Daddy" and then put it down and rolled her eyes. I guess we annoy her with taking too many pictures! :)
